Why Hire A Writer?

In my last blog, I discussed the value of having a marketing plan that includes positioning statements, key messages and value propositions. I also pointed out that I my specialty isn't marketing strategy; rather, it's crafting what comes next. Now, you may be thinking to yourself, "If I know what I have to offer, why wouldn't I come up with the content for my website, brochures, blogs, e-blasts, etc.? Why hire a writer?"

Funny you should ask that. Just today, I gave a presentation at our weekly networking meeting about this very topic.

Don't Let the Size of Your Company Limit Your Messaging Footprint

Some of you aren’t going to like this, but I have to say it. I have found that some small business owners think small when it comes to their marketing communications. Instead of following the same process that a Fortune 500 company would in creating a robust marketing strategy that includes positioning statements, key messages, and value propositions, many small companies just continue to throw something out there with little to no rationale behind it.

Want to Communicate Better? Get Clear.

Last night I had the distinct pleasure of speaking in support of a new business coming to Oswego at the Village Planning Committee Meeting. Misfit Craft Brewery was started by three guys who have great enthusiasm about craft beers and a pretty solid business plan. Their goal is to get approval from the Village Board to move into the old fire barn downtown Oswego and open their doors in October of this year.
