With Women in Mind

Call it intuition. Women definitely have it! Instinctively, we can recognize what works well and what does not work well in our homes. We want a home that reflects our tastes and interests. So guess who is the driving factor in home purchases and home remodeling?

Design that Feels Right

Have you ever walked through a home and thought, "this feels right"? You may not be able to put your finger on exactly why it feels that way, but there's definitely a sense of comfort and of being "home".What you're experiencing is likely good architectural design, and it's no accident. Good design is a combination of proper scale, proportion, mass, and authenticity that transcends time and trends. Good design also reflects current lifestyle needs both inside and out.

Design Trends: The Bathroom

A few years ago, bathrooms were always a place to experiment with lots of different materials, over the top cabinets and fixtures, but now, the trend is minimal and Zen. "Green", and I'm not talking about the color, has also found it's way into the bathroom.  I think it’s because many clients we talk to have visited some kind of a spa and want to bring that vibe home. The bathrooms we’re doing have elegant but simpler details in terms of faucets, fixtures, cabinetry, storage, and simpler finishes. In a high-stress world, a spa-style bathroom makes sense as refuge and retreat.

With Thanks

Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday. In part because it is the one holiday that does not honor an individual or an event. It honors a concept—gratitude.

While I have so much for which to be grateful, this post is not about me, nor about the deep and profound spiritual power of gratitude. This is about our clients and the relationships we have forged.

What is Your Cost per Square Foot?

I recently received a phone call from someone asking me the question: "What is your average cost per square foot?" I get this question often and I cringe when I hear it.
People will ask me this question sincerely in order to compare me to another builder. I beg you; do not compare builders based on this question. The answer is more complex than the question and you will not have an accurate measure of what your home will cost.
So what do I do when I get this question?
